Primary Menu

All our websites can have up to two (2) menu groups, the primary menu & secondary menu. These contain links to pages, blogs, galleries, photographs or simply external links to other websites and pages.

The Primary Menu will be the website's main menu.

Clicking on  "Primary Menu" in the TWAP Main Menu, the system will display a list of the Primary Menu Items that are available for your website.

The fields associated with each Primary Menu Item in the list are:

  • datapage/URL - The Internal Page or External URL the link will point to
  • title - the title of the link
  • existing translations*
  • weight - the horizontal or vertical position of the link (-10 appears first, +10 appears last)
  • enabled status - green if enabled, red if disabled (disabled means it isn't displayed on the actual website but still present in the database for the owner to enable when they want)
  • operations - edit / delete / translate*

* : available only in platinum websites.

Adding a New Primary Menu Item

To add a new Primary Menu item, simply click on the "new menu" icon (). Clicking will open a pop-up dialog which will guide you through the new menu addition.

Inside the pop-up dialog, you will first need to select what type of menu item you want to create ("Link to:"). If you would like to point to an external web page, such as http://www.google.com/, for example, you must select "Only URL(below)".

The above selection tells the system that you will be adding an external link. The URL for that external link should be entered in the next input box, "URL:".

If you would like to link to an internal page, like a Page you have created, or a Gallery, Blog item etc, you should ignore the "URL:" text box, and simply select the page you wish to link to from the drop-down menu.

The next thing you need to to enter is the Title for that link, and its status and weight. If checked, the menu item will be public and displayed on your website, if unchecked, it will be there for you to administer, but not public on your website.

The weight of the menu item determines its position on the grid. -10 means it appears first, while 10 means it appears last.

Click on "save" when you're ready.

Editing a Primary Menu Item

To edit a Primary Menu item, click on the edit icon () on the same row as the menu item you intend to edit. Clicking on that icon will open a pop-up menu which will allow you to perform your changes.

The edit dialog is exactly the same as the addition one, the only difference being that it is pre-populated with the data of the menu item you have added in the past. Therefore the title field, for instance, will be filled in with the existing data for you.

After you have finished making your changes, you can save them by clicking on the "save" button, or discard them by closing the dialog.

Deleting a Primary Menu Item

To delete a Primary Menu Item, click on the deletion icon () on the same row as the menu item you intend to delete. You will be asked to confirm your choice by the system.

If you still want to proceed with the deletion, confirm your choice and the system will delete this menu Item.

Mass Deletion of Primary Menu Items

To massively delete Primary Menu Items, first select them by clicking on their respective checkboxes that appear first in every row (you can select all simply by clicking on the top left checkbox on the header of the table).

Once you have selected the items that you wish to delete, click on the trash icon on the top right corner of this box ().

The system will ask for confirmation for this action. Once confirmed, the menu items will be deleted.

To save your settings, click on the "save" button right next to the colour change form.
