First-time configuration

Once logged in the TWAP (ThemeChef Website Administration Panel), you see the list of websites for your account. Clicking on the edit button will take you one step further.

Clicking the edit button on the Websites List page (index TWAP page, after logging in), you wil be taken to the main administration area for this particular website that you chose.

However: If this is the first time you choose to enter the administration section for your website (i.e. this is an new website, never edited before, still using default values), you will be taken to the Initial Configuration page, where you will be asked to perform some initial configurations.

These are:

• Name: The "name" of your website, e.g. "MyCompany"
• Title: A title that best describes your website, e.g. "Offering aProduct since 1880"
• Mission Statement: Your mission statement
• Copyright Line: Your copyright line at the bottom of the page, e.g. "Copyright © MyCompany, 2009"
• *Website Subdomain
• *Website Domain

* Website Subdomain & Website Domain:

These are two very important configuration items. The Subdomain & Domain of your website must be correct in order for your website to become public and viewable by visitors.

Subdomain/Domain: This is the prefix/suffix, let's say, of any website URL. For instance, in the URL http://www.themechef.com, the subdomain is "www", and the domain name is "themechef.com".

Therefore, if the domain that you have purchased for your website is "company.com", you will need to enter a subdomain in the appropriate field, like "www", and the domain field should be "company.com".

Note that you can change the subdomain to be something else, like "my", which will make the full URL to be "http://my.company.com". Using this method you can have many websites for 1 domain name, e.g. "www.company.com, my.company.com, your.company.com, etc."

Also note that all the above configurations can also be changed at any time inside the Website Administration Panel. This initial configuration page simply makes sure you don't skip them, because they are very important.
